IYA Art exhibition

Our Story

Imagine a time when African women were revered as goddesses, celebrated for their regalness, beauty, and strength. Today, Black beauty and creativity are often underrepresented. This exhibition honors African American woman visual artists' creative journey and identity through their art highlighting the cultural and spiritual influences that shape your artistic practices and lived experiences of Blackness. In Yoruba, Iya translates to “mother,” symbolizing the profound significance of the maternal figure.
